Leadership in Action Makes Final Push to Fund Senior Center Transportation Project

Paulding, OH — The finish line is approaching, and the 2025–2026 Leadership in Action (LIA) class is calling on the community to help bring their project across it.

Leadership in Action (LIA) is the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce’s leadership development program designed to deepen participants’ understanding of themselves, each other, and Paulding County… while taking meaningful action in our community.

This year’s cohort includes 14 individuals committed not just to learning about local challenges, but to responding to them.

After meeting with several county organizations, the class partnered with the United Way of Paulding County and selected the Paulding County Senior Center as their service focus.

Supporting Transportation for Local Seniors

The Paulding County Senior Center serves approximately 4,700 residents age 60 and older—nearly one-quarter of the county’s population.

In a rural community like ours, reliable transportation is essential. Many seniors must travel to Fort Wayne or Toledo for specialized medical care. The Senior Center’s wheelchair-accessible van helps make those trips possible, along with transportation to meals, appointments, and daily activities.

To help meet increased demand, the LIA class is working with United Way to raise $26,500 toward the purchase of an additional wheelchair-accessible van.

Paulding Area Chamber and Paulding High School Team Up for Community Cleanup Day

PAULDING, OH — The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce and Paulding High School are teaming up once again for Community Cleanup Day on Wednesday, April 30, 2026. The event brings student volunteers together with local Paulding businesses and organizations for a day of hands-on community improvement. In the event of rain, the backup date is May 1st.

Community Cleanup Day is a partnership between the Chamber and Paulding High School that has become an annual tradition. Local businesses and organizations sign up with a project — painting, landscaping, sweeping, pulling weeds, or whatever needs doing — and are paired with student volunteers who spend the day working alongside their staff and business representatives. The students gain real-world experience and give back to the community, the businesses get help with projects they’ve been putting off, and the whole community looks a little better by the end of the day.

This year, 20 sites have signed up to participate:

Students will be painting snow plows at the Paulding County Engineer’s Office, cleaning up gardens with OSU Extension and the Master Gardeners, freshening up Herb Monroe Park, helping the Fair Board, tackling landscaping at Divine Mercy Parish, deep cleaning at LifeWise Paulding, organizing at Limitless, and working at the VFW Post. Also on the list are the Paulding Recovery Clubhouse, First Financial Bank, Fuel Good Energy, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Keepsake Beads by EAW, the Village of Oakwood, Paulding Youth Ball Association, the Black Swamp Nature Center, First Presbyterian Church, and the Chamber itself.

Each site provides bottled water for volunteers, and most will be providing lunch for their student crews.

While the deadline to sign up as a participating site has closed for this year, businesses and organizations interested in future Community Cleanup Days are encouraged to contact the Chamber to be added to the list for next time.

“Community Cleanup Day is one of the things we’re most proud of at the Chamber,” said Jill Strahley, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a chance for students to get involved, for businesses to get a hand with projects they need, and for all of us to invest in making Paulding County a place we’re proud of. If you see students out working around town on April 30th, give them a wave — they’re doing good work.”

The Community Bakes for the Caring & Sharing Sweet Shop Fundraiser on March 26

More than 100 Paulding County bakers and makers are donating homemade goodies for the 2026 Sweet Shop, which will benefit the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry! The event will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 601 Flat Rock Drive in Paulding from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Cash and checks will be accepted. Also, card payments can be made online at the event.

The Sweet Shop will feature an array of pies, yeast and sourdough breads, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, chocolates and other candy, 30 types of cookies, snack mixes and more.

The following cottage bakers and bakeries are supporting the fundraiser by donating this year: Bean Creek Farms, Ciara's Cookie Corner, Farmer's Wife Cupcakes, Flour Baking Co., Grounded Coffee & Crumbs, Humble Heck Bakery, K&H Sweets, Kuntry Kakers, Mama Moos, Mom & Son's Bakery, Paulding County Senior Center, Paulding Exempted Village High School Nutrition and Wellness class, Sandy's Cakes, Setser’s Sourdough, Simply from Scratch, Sweet A.S. Cakes, and The Pink Flamingo Bakery.

The money raised from the event will go to the general operating budget for the pantry which will help to pay ongoing expenses, including buying food.

The Caring & Sharing Food Pantry’s purpose is to support Paulding County residents who are experiencing food insecurity. They are run entirely on donations of food and financial support from the local communities.

C & C Treasures Celebrates Grand Opening in Paulding

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce was proud to welcome C & C Treasures into the downtown business community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 22, 2025. Located at 110 W Perry Street, the new storefront marks a meaningful milestone for owners Casey and Claude Partain, who have turned their long-time passion for antiques and unique décor into a full brick-and-mortar shop.

The grand opening drew steady foot traffic throughout the Shop the Village event, with shoppers excited to explore the store’s curated mix of antiques, collectible pieces, and one-of-a-kind finds. The warm community response made the opening weekend especially memorable.

Hidn Treasures Relocates to Downtown Paulding

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce was delighted to celebrate the relocation of Hidn Treasures with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 21, 2025. Now located at 100 E Jackson Street, the shop has found a welcoming new home in the heart of downtown Paulding.

After opening in early 2024, Hidn Treasures made a thoughtful move downtown to enjoy better foot traffic on the courthouse square. Their new location maintains everything customers already love—an inviting space filled with creations from local makers including TK Prints, Michele’s Handmade Gifts, Kelley’s Creative Side, and many others.

Paulding Community Comes Together for a Successful 2025 Shop the Village

Paulding, Ohio — November 2025— The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to share the success of this year’s Shop the Village, a day that brought small businesses, makers, and families together to celebrate local shopping and community spirit throughout downtown Paulding.

From the moment doors opened, the support was clear. Megan Sierra, Director of PC Workshop/Limitless, reported 450 transactions—triple their usual Saturday sales. Vendors and business owners across all locations shared the same message: shoppers showed up, and they showed up big.

“The energy throughout Paulding was great,” said Chamber Director Jill Strahley. “Every conversation we had reflected positivity and gratitude. Our businesses felt seen, supported, and encouraged by the community. That’s what Shop the Village is all about.”

Shoppers visited vendor hubs throughout town, including Studio 38, Grounded Coffee and Crumbs, the Paulding Eagles, Ace Hardware, Branch Christian Fellowship, and others. The day also highlighted local youth—both the Youth Business Showcase, and the NextGen Youth Artisan Market were buzzing with activity as young entrepreneurs shared their crafts and creativity with the community.

The first 150 shoppers picked up free Shop the Village tote bags at Grounded Coffee, which were gone before noon.

As planning begins for Shop the Village 2026, the Chamber welcomes local businesses and vendors who would like to participate. “We’re already working on next year’s details,” Strahley said. “If you’d like to be included, reach out to the Chamber. We’d love to have you join us.”

Visit three historic buildings at next After-Hours

PAULDING – Learn more about the Paulding Downtown Historic District by touring three business buildings at a free Progressive After-Hours on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Community Revitalizing Paulding (CoRP) is organizing the event, set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Paulding County Area Foundation building on the south side of the square. The foundation will host the visit. The public is welcome to attend.

Following a brief presentation and refreshments, the After-Hours will proceed next door to the Small Business Innovation Center for a similar program. Paulding County Economic Development office will be the host.

The event will conclude at the retail store Limitless on the northwest the corner of the square. The Limitless staff will welcome guests.

Each stop will offer the opportunity to hear about the building’s fascinating history and past businesses, how CoRP secured historic district designation and about the building’s present occupants.

The first two After-Hours, in February and June, were big successes, each drawing more than 50 people to renovated buildings.

Members of CoRP’s Wednesday History Group, which researched all the district’s buildings as part of the historic district application process, is helping to coordinate this series of After-Hours. They are developing brochures for each of the three locations, containing vintage and new photographs with interesting information.

CoRP is raising funds to install two unique signs marking the Downtown Historic District, in spring 2024 by the National Register of Historic Places. The signs will make passersby aware they are entering the Historic District as they approach the downtown on U.S. 127 from the north and south.

CoRP is working with Ohio’s Sewah Studios, which creates the state historical markers, to design the two signs. Each metal plaque will measure 18 inches wide by 24 inches tall and be mounted on an aluminum post.The Village of Paulding has agreed to install both signs. The total cost for manufacturing and delivery is approximately $5,000. Donations will be accepted at the After-Hours. CoRP must have the funds before ordering the signs.

CoRP anticipates the signs will increase awareness of the new historic district, draw visitors to the community, attract new businesses and encourage interest in renovation and preservation. CoRP will host additional public events in the near future.

Paulding Chamber Announces “Shades of Ireland” Trip Benefiting Local Student Scholarships

Paulding, Ohio – October 7, 2025 — The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting local residents to join a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience while giving back to the community. In partnership with Collette Travel and Orange Grover Travel Company, the Chamber will host a 10-day “Shades of Ireland” group tour, June 19–28, 2026, offering travelers the opportunity to explore the best of Ireland in comfort and style—all while supporting the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

The tour includes visits to Dublin, Blarney Castle, the Ring of Kerry, the Cliffs of Moher, and an overnight stay in a real castle. Optional three-night extensions in London or Edinburgh are also available.

This is a premium, worry-free group travel experience designed for convenience and value. Travelers will enjoy 4-star hotels, quality dining, expert local guides, and Collette’s renowned door-to-door service—including round-trip transportation from Paulding to the airport and private transfers from the Dublin airport to the hotel upon arrival.

Proceeds from the trip will benefit the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Chamber’s 501(c)(3) charitable arm established in 2023. The Foundation supports scholarships for Paulding County students and community initiatives that encourage young people to build their careers and futures locally. The Foundation will award its first scholarships in Spring 2026.

An informational meeting about the trip will be held on Monday, November 3 at 6:00 PM at the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce, 101 E. Perry St., Paulding, Ohio. During this meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with Matthew O’Shaughnessey of Orange Grove Travel Company, Collette’s travel partner, who will review the itinerary, pricing, and travel details. Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Local Leaders, Businesses, and Milestones at 2025 Annual Banquet

Paulding, OH – October 2, 2025 — The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Banquet on September 25 with an ’80s-inspired Neon Nights celebration, honoring outstanding leaders, businesses, and community organizations whose impact continues to strengthen Paulding County.

"This was my very first banquet as Chamber Director, and it was incredible to celebrate alongside so many people who care deeply about our community,” said Jill Strahley, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. “We honored legacies, celebrated milestones, and also laughed and had fun together. Nights like this remind me why I love Paulding County.”

The Chamber’s highest honor, the Legacy Award, was presented to two recipients. Samuel Hatcher was recognized for his 27 years of teaching at Paulding High School, where his classroom was known for respect, encouragement, and common sense. He invested countless hours preparing students for life after graduation, connecting them to local resources and leaving a lasting influence felt across generations. Judge Tiffany Reighter-Beckman was honored for her leadership as Common Pleas Court Judge and for founding the Paulding County Drug Court in 2014. With more than 70 graduates to date, the program has restored families and futures, setting a powerful example of how justice and compassion can work hand in hand.

The Business Leaders of the Year Award went to Kieu and Travis Okuley of Okuley’s Pharmacy. When Paulding County was left without a pharmacy after Rite Aid’s closure, the Okuleys stepped in to meet a critical need. They renovated a building to create a modern walk-in pharmacy with a drive-through and began serving residents even before the storefront officially opened. Their quick action and dedication to professional, personal care have already made a lasting difference.

The Young Professional of the Year Award was presented to Lindsey Manz of the Paulding County Health Department. She was recognized for her professionalism, compassion, and determination to grow as a leader. Manz has taken on leadership responsibilities in public health programs while pursuing further education and training, earning recognition for her work ethic, humility, and ability to elevate those around her.

The Golden Shovel Awards recognized significant investments that build a stronger future for Paulding County. Honorees included Hybrid Performance, for expanding from a barn on a family farm into a new fitness facility; Okuley’s Pharmacy, for restoring essential healthcare access; the Paulding County Land Bank, for transforming blighted properties into community assets; and Grant’s Catering & Wedding Venue, for creating a modern event space that keeps celebrations—and their economic impact—local.

The Chamber also recognized members celebrating milestone anniversaries. Celebrating one year were Smother It Food Truck and Flat Rock Firearms. Reaching five years was Mighty Cube, LLC, and at ten years was C.C. Seamless Roofing & Exteriors. Marking 15 years were Paulding Ace Hardware and the Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library. At the 20-year mark were Logisticize and West Bend Printing. Celebrating 30 years was Tri-County Roofing & Home Improvement, while Village Apothecary marked 40 years, and Williamson Crop Insurance celebrated 45 years. Three organizations celebrated 50 years: Foundations Behavioral Health Services, James M. Sponseller, Attorney at Law, and CHP Home Care & Hospice. At 60 years were Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission and Financial Partners FCU. Celebrating 65 years were the Payne Chamber of Commerce and Dilly Door Co. At 70 years was Bashore Reineck Stoller & Waterman. Marking 90 years was the Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative, and at 100 years the Paulding Knights of Columbus. Celebrating 120 years was Arthur Mutual Telephone Company, while First Presbyterian Church of Paulding marked an extraordinary 150 years of service to the community.

The banquet also raised funds for future projects. The Dessert Dash featured locally made desserts and raised nearly $2,000 for Chamber Foundation scholarships, while the Maker Mix Basket Raffle, filled with artisan goods and local business products, will support the Leadership in Action class service project. Past projects have included improvements to Herb Monroe Park, the Marshall Building mural, and reservoir renovations. Earlier this year, the Paulding Area Chamber Foundation achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, enabling tax-deductible gifts to support scholarships and community projects.

Looking ahead, the Chamber continues to invest in the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs. NextGen Artisan Workshop participants will showcase and sell their art during Shop the Village on November 22, 2025, in downtown Paulding. Ohio Offers Internship Wage Reimbursement for Tech-Focused Companies

Applications Now Open Through August 29

Ohio is making it easier for tech-based companies—or any business with a technological need—to bring in local talent through the College Technology Internship Program. This initiative, led by the Ohio Department of Development and the Ohio Third Frontier, reimburses companies for up to two-thirds of each intern’s salary—up to $7,500 per intern.

Companies can hire up to 10 interns per round, and internships must pay at least $15 per hour (though higher wages are encouraged).

“The College Technology Internship Program allows companies to recruit local talent while helping shape the next generation of innovators,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “We’re committed to providing Ohio’s most innovative companies with the resources they need to expand and thrive.”

Next After-Hours to visit three historic buildings

PAULDING – Learn more about the Paulding Downtown Historic District by touring three business buildings at a free Progressive After-Hours on Tuesday, June 24.

Community Revitalizing Paulding (CoRP) is organizing the event, set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Holly, Wood & Vine on the west side of the square. The hosts are owners Holly and Robert Davis. The public is welcome to attend.

Following a brief presentation and refreshments, the After-Hours will proceed to the nearby Fuel Good Energy for a similar program. The host is Keylei Young.

The event will conclude at the newly opened Buy the Book used bookstore around the corner on Perry Street. The hosts are members of the Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library.

The first After-Hours in February was a big success, drawing more than 50 people to three renovated buildings.

CoRP is raising funds to install two unique signs marking the Downtown Historic District, designated last spring by the National Register of Historic Places. The signs will make passersby aware that they are entering the Historic District as they approach the downtown on U.S. 127 from the north and south.

CoRP is working with Ohio’s Sewah Studios, which creates the state historical markers, to design the two signs. Each metal plaque will measure 18 inches wide by 24 inches tall and be mounted on an aluminum post. The total cost for manufacturing and delivery is approximately $5,000. CoRP must have the funds before ordering the signs.

The Village of Paulding has agreed to install both signs and will consult on the exact placement to comply with sign regulations.

CoRP is a 501c3 nonprofit group. To contribute to the sign fund, donations may be sent to them at 101 E. Main St., Paulding OH 45879.

Jill Strahley Named New Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce

Paulding, OH — The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the appointment of Jill Strahley as its new Executive Director. With a strong background in community engagement, marketing, and nonprofit leadership, Strahley brings both passion and experience to this pivotal role.

A longtime resident of the Paulding area, Strahley has spent the past several years serving the community through a variety of leadership positions, including Payne Elementary PTO

President, board member of United Way of Paulding County, and advertising representative for The Paulding Progress. She has built trusted relationships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations, and has led successful initiatives in branding, fundraising, and public outreach.

“I’m honored to step into this role and serve the community that means so much to me,” said Strahley. “I’m excited to build on the Chamber’s work by supporting local businesses, encouraging economic growth, and creating new opportunities for collaboration.”

As Executive Director, Strahley will focus on strengthening business partnerships, promoting member services, planning community events, and fostering initiatives that reflect the unique character and potential of the region.

The Chamber Board expressed enthusiasm about the new appointment. “We are thrilled to welcome Jill into this leadership role,” said Denise Kinder, President of the Chamber Board. “Her energy, vision, and dedication to the community made her the right choice to lead the Chamber forward.”

Paulding High School Community Clean-Up Day Makes Major Impact

The 2025 Paulding High School Community Clean-Up Day was a tremendous success, highlighting the power of collaboration between students, educators, and local organizations. This year, students and staff completed more than 95 service projects across Paulding, Oakwood, and Cecil, directly supporting over 20 community organizations.

From landscaping and painting to organizing donations and refreshing public spaces, Paulding High School students brought enthusiasm, determination, and heart to every task. Their work not only enhanced the physical appearance of the communities but also built meaningful relationships with the residents and organizations they served.

Erica Noggle, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce, praised both the impact of the event and the character of the students involved, “The energy and work ethic these students brought to the day was truly inspiring. They didn’t just complete tasks—they made meaningful connections with local organizations and community members. This event reflects the best of what happens when schools and communities come together.”

The event was also a source of pride for the school. Shawn Brewer, teacher at Paulding High School, emphasized the importance of the experience for students, “It was a great day for our students and staff working in collaboration with community members to get work done around the county. This is an awesome opportunity for our students to give back to others and show what they can do. Overall, it was a major success, and we look forward to doing it again next spring.”

Community members echoed this appreciation, with several organizations expressing how much they valued the help—particularly for projects that may have otherwise been delayed or left undone.

More than just a day of service, the Paulding High School Community Clean-Up Day is a growing tradition that strengthens connections across the county. It gives students the opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. Noggle Announces Resignation as Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce

After much consideration, Erica Noggle has announced her resignation as Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. Noggle has accepted a new role as Executive Director of the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have served as Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Noggle. “It has been an honor to work alongside such dedicated community leaders, passionate business owners, and an engaged membership. Together, we’ve made meaningful strides to support local businesses and foster economic growth. While I’m excited for this new chapter, I will always carry fond memories of my time here.”

During her tenure, Noggle played a key role in advocating for local businesses, strengthening community engagement, and organizing impactful events. She was instrumental in securing multiple grants and advancing projects such as the Paulding County Trails, in which she will remain actively involved. Noggle worked closely with the Chamber Board of Directors, its members, and local leaders to create lasting, positive changes within Paulding County.

“Everyone in local County business knows that Erica Noggle has poured her heart and soul into the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber has improved the services offered to all businesses, and the creative events and unique projects will impact Paulding County for many years to come. While it will be difficult to find someone to replace Erica, the Chamber Board is dedicated to serving the business community and we will continue to support all area businesses,” commented Scott Strahley, Chamber Board President.

Noggle is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for her successor. With the support of the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce Board, she will continue her work with the Paulding Area Chamber throughout the transition period.

NatureWorks Grant Secured for Reservoir Park Restroom Renovation

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that the 2023-2024 Leadership in Action class, in partnership with the Village of Paulding, has been awarded $15,722 through the NatureWorks grant to support the renovation of the public restroom at Reservoir Park.

The Leadership in Action program, designed to cultivate leadership skills and encourage civic engagement, empowers participants to develop and implement community improvement projects. This past class focused on enhancing Reservoir Park, recognizing its potential as a key recreational space for residents and visitors.

“This grant is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Leadership in Action class,” said Erica Noggle, Executive Director, Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce. “By partnering with the Village of Paulding, the Leadership class has made a lasting impact on the community, ensuring that Reservoir Park continues to serve as a welcoming and accessible space for all.”

The NatureWorks grant, administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), provides funding to communities across the state for public park improvements. The renovation project will enhance the restroom facilities, improving accessibility and functionality to better serve parkgoers.

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce and the Leadership in Action class extend their gratitude to the businesses and organizations that donated funds to the project and the Village of Paulding for their support in making this project possible. Renovations are expected to begin in 2025, with updates to be shared as progress continues.

NextGen Youth Artisan Market Coming to Shop the Village

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the launch of the NextGen Youth Artisan Market, a brand-new initiative debuting during the 2025 Shop the Village event on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. This exciting program offers Paulding County High School students a unique platform to showcase and sell their artistic creations, highlighting the remarkable talents being cultivated in our local schools.

“We believe that by encouraging our students to step outside their comfort zones in a safe and supportive environment, we can help them build essential life skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom,” said Erica Noggle, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce.

The NextGen Youth Artisan Market will feature a wide variety of student-made projects, including paintings, woodworking, welding, and more. These works will reflect skills developed in the classroom, creations crafted during class projects, and pieces made using school-provided resources. By providing this platform, the Chamber aims to nurture students' artistic passions while fostering confidence, self-esteem, and personal growth.

Staci Miller, Agriculture Education Teacher at Paulding Exempted Village Schools, shared her enthusiasm for the program: “This is truly a wonderful new opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and skills. It gives students a way to show the community the hands-on skills and abilities they are learning in high school career technical education classes. I am so happy for a program like this to get started in our community!”

The initiative also emphasizes the value of continued support for the arts in public schools. By highlighting the incredible creativity within our community, the NextGen Youth Artisan Market encourages residents to appreciate and celebrate the arts as a vital part of Paulding County's culture.

Angie Miesle Stokes, Studio Art, Art History, and Art Technology teacher at Wayne Trace, expressed her excitement: “We are excited to collaborate with the Chamber to provide this opportunity for our students to grow! Not only will they be able to showcase the works they make as part of our Art Studios and STEAM center projects, but they will also be able to share with the community projects they have been inspired to make on their own time and with the help of the local artists workshop leading up to the event!”

"This program is about more than just selling art; it's about celebrating our young artists, encouraging their dreams, and fostering a community that values and supports creative expression," Noggle added.

Trails Coming to Paulding County

Paulding Soil & Water Conservation District, and Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Paulding County Commissioners, are excited to announce that $107,500 has been awarded for recreational trail development in the Paulding County community.

The office of Ohio 82nd House District Rep. Roy Klopfenstein, R-Haviland, issued a press release Tuesday communicating that he and his office helped secure funding through Ohio Senate Bill 54 (SB 54), signed Thursday by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, for the community enhancement project.

Both Paulding Soil and Water Conservation District and the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce have worked tirelessly for the last year and a half to make this project a reality. “It is exciting to be able to bring these improvements to our community and I look forward to the day when people can enjoy using the trails,” says Education Specialist, Anna Gurney.

The Paulding Trail Project will work to address many needs of Paulding County including safety, health, economic growth, and recreation. Connecting the two parks with a walking path that will serve as an inclusive pathway will allow everyone safe access to activity centers and essential services. The project will also offer residents outdoor recreation, leisure, and fitness opportunities for everyone. “We are thankful that we can be a part of making the Paulding County Trails Project come of fruition. Quality of life is important to all of us and it is nice to see this project being done,” states Klopfenstein.

Phase 1 of the Paulding County Trails Project will connect the Black Swamp Nature Center and Lela McGuire-Jeffery Park on the west side of the Village of Paulding. The mission of this initiative is to redefine mobility, recreation, health, and accessibility in Paulding County. Recreational trails connect residents to a safer, healthier, and more vibrant way of life.

The first phase of the project is now completely funded. Trail construction is slated to begin in 2027.

It’s never too early to plan for another season of festive competition! The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the return of the Holiday Window Decorating Contest, an eagerly anticipated event that brings creativity and holiday spirit to our community. Over the past three years, local businesses have wowed us with imaginative, vibrant window displays, and we can’t wait to see how each will elevate their designs for the 2024 season!

Participation Details: There is no participation fee for the contest beyond the cost of decorations. All interested businesses are invited to bring their unique flair to their storefronts for the chance to win the coveted People’s Choice Award.

Guidelines for Entry:

Windows must be fully decorated by noon on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Designs must be original, with no repeats from prior years.

Paulding County Trails Project Continues to Raise Funds

The Paulding County Trails Project recently partnered with Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill in Van Wert, OH, for a successful fundraising event, raising $423.55 to support the development of local trails.

Paulding Area Chamber Celebrates Businesses and Community Members

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Banquet on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The Annual Banquet is the Chamber’s opportunity to honor businesses and community members because without them our Paulding County Community wouldn't be as amazing as it is today. This year’s theme was a play on the traditional Monopoly game to coincide with the creation of the Paulding County-opoly game.

The Chamber touched on many programs and collaborative projects that have occurred over the last year. Those projects ranged from the Community Clean Up Day with Paulding Exempted Village Schools to the current project that is underway with the Paulding County Trails Project. These efforts are a staple of the Chamber’s mission to exemplify leadership by positively reinforcing and representing their members and businesses in the communities that they proudly serve.

Throughout the evening the Chamber celebrated with the community by presenting 18 awards in the categories of Milestone Awards, Golden Shovel Awards, Business Leader of the Year, Young Professional of the Year and the Legacy Award. Memories by Tawnya was present to take professional headshots and to capture a picture of each award recipient throughout the evening.

The Golden Shovel Awards were presented to the following businesses that made improvements or expansions to their facilities to better serve their needs and those of the community.

The final three award recipients are chosen from nominations that were submitted by community members. Those nominations were passed along to three Chamber Directors in the states of Utah, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. Each of this year’s awards recipients were chosen unanimously by those individuals.

Business Leader of the Year is presented to an individual that has excelled within a leadership role in a Chamber member business. This individual is innovative, motivating to employees and civically engaged. This recipient may have acquired a long-term record of service or may have made one outstanding contribution that made a major impact in their business, industry and/or community. This year’s 2024 Business Leader of the Year is Bryce Steiner.

The Young Professional of The Year award is presented to an individual (age 20-40) who has achieved a successful career and has made innovative contributions to their company/community. This individual has distinguished themselves as a future leader in the business/organization. This year’s 2024 Young Professional of the Year is Amber Gochenour.

The Legacy Award recognizes an individual in our community that has given their time and talent to build a better tomorrow. This year’s 2024 Legacy Award recipient is Travis Tumblin.

A fun and creative fund-raising activity that occurs during the banquet is the Dessert Dash. Each table works together as a team to bid on a dessert. The table with the highest bid gets to ‘dash’ to the dessert table to claim their sugary goodness and then so on and so forth. This year’s desserts were provided by Grounded Coffee and Crumb, Michelle Stanford, and Grant’s Catering. The funds raised are then used by the Chamber throughout the year on Quality-of-Life projects throughout Paulding County. Through the kindness and generosity of the attendees we were able to raise $2,432.

This year’s Annual Banquet was made possible by the sponsorship of Northwest State Community College, State Bank & Trust, C.C. Seamless, Baughman Tile Company, Paulding Putnam Electric Co-Op, Sherwood Mutual Telephone Association, The Union Bank Company, Vancrest of Payne, and First Financial Bank. Recreational Trails Coming to Paulding County

PAULDING, OH. - $730,000 has been awarded for the construction of recreational trails and safe pathway development in the Paulding County, Ohio community.

The Paulding County Trails Committee, in partnership with the Paulding County Commissioners, is thrilled to announce a significant development in community enhancement: the allocation of $730,000 for recreational trail development. This transformative project aims to redefine mobility, recreation, wellness, and accessibility for residents across Paulding County. “These funds provide funding for projects defined as transportation alternatives, including on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities. I’m excited that Paulding County, who has never received these funds before, will be able to benefit from this program,” says Kylie Schnipke, District 1 LPA Coordinator, ODOT.

In planning, the committee focused on more than just trails; they wanted to make sure that everyone feels welcome and can safely enjoy recreation, nature, and essential services. The Paulding Trail Project will help with important county needs like safety, health, and economic growth. By building inclusive pathways, they're making sure everyone can reach activity centers and essential services easily, while also encouraging walking and biking.

Phase 1 of the Paulding Trail Project will connect the Black Swamp Nature Center to Lela McGuire-Jeffery Park on the west side of the Village of Paulding. This visionary initiative is more than concrete and asphalt, it is a path to a safer, healthier, and more vibrant way of life.

The benefits extend far beyond physical health. According to Anna Gurney, Education Specialist at Paulding Soil and Water Conservation District, "An enormous amount of research supports the fact that trails are associated with increased physical activity and improved physical and mental health and well-being."

Investing in nature trails has a ripple effect, making the whole community better. A report by the National Association of Homebuilders found that having a trail nearby is the second-most cited community amenity by prospective home buyers. Additionally, numerous studies have shown that having trails nearby increases property values.

“Recreation is vital for communities, bringing fun, money, and energy. This trail project will benefit our local businesses and give our community a safe place to enjoy nature," says Erica Noggle, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce.

Leadership in Action Team Kicks Off Community Service Project Funding Campaign

The Leadership in Action (LIA) team has embarked on a significant project to renovate the pavilion and public restrooms at the Paulding Reservoir Park. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the overall appeal and safety of the area. The team is dedicated to learning more about leadership and giving back to the community, and they are thrilled to take on this meaningful task.

The proposed renovation project aims to create a safer and more welcoming environment for the community to enjoy. However, to make this vision a reality, they are seeking financial support from businesses and individuals like you. Their goal is to raise $50,000 in charitable donations from the community to fund the renovation project. The renovated pavilion and restrooms will not only contribute to the beautification of the Paulding Reservoir Park but will also serve as an asset for the entire community.

To support this initiative, they invite you to consider making a charitable donation by February 29th, 2024, to ensure the timely completion of the project. The suggested donation amounts are $100, $500, $1,000, $1,500, or an amount of your choosing. Local dignitaries, community leaders, and residents gathered to witness the official unveiling of these remarkable additions to the county. The Rochester Park Pavilion, now a versatile and inviting space for community gatherings and recreational activities, will undoubtedly become a hub for social engagement. Black Swamp Nature Center is Now Home to a Beautiful Pavilion

On Wednesday, October 26th, 2023, the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce marked a special moment at the Black Swamp Nature Center by hosting the ribbon cutting of the new Pavilion!

“We are thrilled to announce that our new pavilion is now open to visitors,” says Anna Gurney, Educational Specialist, Paulding Soil and Water Conservation District. “This project has been a labor of love, and we are grateful to everyone who has contributed to its success.”

The ODNR NatureWorks grant was awarded in November of 2021 for Black Swamp Nature Center improvements. The amount awarded was $40,726. Those funds were used for updates to the interior of the Nature Center Building in 2022 and the pavilion was built in 2023. To complete the pavilion, additional funds were needed. Many donations were received from the community including those from the Paulding County Area Foundation, Cooper Farms Foundation, Paulding Putnam Operation Round Up, and Ag Credit Mission Funds allowing for the completion of the project.

The beautiful pavilion is custom designed for the site allowing it to fit perfectly into the natural setting. It is open to the public during daylight hours and is first come, first served. We are proud to have it as an improvement to the Black Swamp Nature Preserve. Come enjoy the Pavilion’s serene surroundings, a perfect spot for gatherings, picnics, and appreciating the beauty of nature.

Paulding Area Chamber Celebrates Businesses and Community Members

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Banquet on Thursday, October 5th. The Annual Banquet is the Chamber’s opportunity to honor businesses and community members because without them our Paulding County Community wouldn't be as amazing as it is today. This year’s theme was Be a Pop of Color in a Black and White World, to signify that it’s the people of the community that are important and make it successful. Guests were encouraged to come dressed colorfully, enjoy a delicious meal, and take the opportunity to network.

The Chamber touched on many programs and collaborative projects that have occurred over the last year. Those projects ranged from the Community Clean Up Day with Paulding Exempted Village Schools to the current project that is underway with the Wayne Trace Art Department. These collaborative efforts are a staple of the Chamber’s mission to exemplify leadership by positively reinforcing and representing their members and businesses in the communities that they proudly serve.

Throughout the evening the Chamber celebrated with the community by presenting 21 awards in the categories of Milestone Awards, Golden Shovel Awards, Business Leader of the Year, Young Professional of the Year and the Legacy Award. Memories by Tawnya was present to take professional headshots and to capture a picture of each award recipient throughout the evening.

The final three award recipients are chosen from nominations that were submitted by community members. Business Leader of the Year is presented to an individual that has excelled within a leadership role in a Chamber member business. This individual is innovative, motivating to employees and civically engaged. This recipient may have acquired a long-term record of service or may have made one outstanding contribution that made a major impact in their business, industry and/or community. This year’s 2023 Business Leader of the Year is Doug Schlatter with Schlatter Plumbing, Heating, and A/C.

The Young Professional of The Year award is presented to an individual (age 20-40) who has achieved a successful career and has made innovative contributions to their company/community. This individual has distinguished themselves as a future leader in the business/organization. This year’s 2023 Young Professional of the Year is Estee Miller.

The Legacy Award recognizes an individual in our community that has given their time and talent to build a better tomorrow. This year’s 2023 Legacy Award recipient is Traci Koenig.

A fun and creative fund-raising activity that occurs during the banquet is the Dessert Dash. Each table works together as a team to bid on a dessert. The table with the highest bid gets to ‘dash’ to the dessert table to claim their sugary goodness and then so on and so forth. This year’s desserts were provided by Grounded Coffee and Crumb, The Gardens at Paulding, and Grant’s Catering. The funds raised are then used by the Chamber throughout the year on Quality of Life projects throughout Paulding County. Through the kindness and generosity of the attendees we were able to raise over $2,000.

Fall is a beautiful time to explore Paulding County. If you’re interested in history then you need to mark your calendars and join CoRP for their Annual Cemetery Walk at Live Oak Cemetery on Saturday, October 14^th. We also have the Old Paulding Jail where you can schedule private or group paranormal investigations with 187 P.I.

“Paulding County is rich in history and adventure. We have some amazing coffee shops and local eateries where you can get a warm drink and a wonderful meal while you explore all the things that make our each of our communities amazing,” says Erica Noggle, Executive Director of the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce.

Check out festive weekends at Ohio’s amusement parks, zoos and aquariums, or have an ah-maize-ingtime at one of Ohio’s corn mazes. Paulding County has an amazing nine-acre corn maze located at Auglaize Canoe and Kayak. This year the maze has been patterned for the logo of the Cooper Farms 85th business anniversary celebration.

Paulding, OH also has a trail system located at the Black Swamp Nature Center. These trails provide a beautiful landscape for a variety of activities, as well as an extraordinary backdrop for family pictures.

Paulding 3rd Graders to Pilot the Pathfinder Program

Paulding, OH: This year the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce wanted to do something to encourage the growth of leadership skills and kindness in the area youth. There are many ways that you can try to guide and encourage students but Erica Noggle, Executive Director for the Chamber, wanted to do something a little different. Noggle reached out to Mrs. Doster, a 3^rd grade teacher at Paulding Exempted Village Schools. Together they came up with the Pathfinder Program.

Each week the students will have the opportunity to earn the Pathfinder of the Week Award. The criteria to earn this award are to show acts of kindness, demonstrate leadership skills, step outside his/her comfort zone, be kind to everyone, lead by example, etc. The student that is chosen will receive a certificate, get to pick a small prize from the treasure box, and get their picture taken to post in the hallway, on the classroom Dojo page, and be submitted to the local newspapers.

Mrs. Doster will pilot the program for the 2023-2024 school year. The hope is that next year the program can be expanded to include all 3^rd grade classrooms in Paulding County. Noggle and Doster are also very appreciative for the support of MY102.7 in making this program a reality. This is a wonderful opportunity that we have to help develop leadership skills in our youth!

Charitable University Program Coming to Paulding County

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce and the Paulding County Area Foundation are bringing the Charitable University Program to Paulding County. This event will be held on October 24^th, 2023, from 5-8pm at the Paulding County Carnegie Library. Ohio’s charities, big and small, make positive differences in the lives of Ohioans every day. The programs provided by charities elevate the quality of life we all enjoy, and many families rely on these valuable services. Because of the vital nature of our nonprofit sector, the Ohio Attorney General’s Charitable Law Section developed this new program aimed at elevating the security and effectiveness of Ohio’s charities by training board members, key staff and volunteers on the various legal obligations and fiduciary considerations that should be considered in guiding these organizations.

Charitable University is a free, training program for charitable leaders that covers some of the most important concepts necessary for protecting charitable assets and ensuring they are used exclusively for the charitable mission. Training courses are divided into four different topics: Board Governance and Policies; Financial Budgeting and Internal Controls; Governmental Filings and Recordkeeping; and Fundraising. Those who complete at least one training course in each of these four content areas will be eligible for a completion certificate and will be saluted on the AG’s web page as a graduate of Charitable University.

Completion of this program will be required for eligibility for some funding opportunities in the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and it is hoped that other funding organizations begin to adopt similar requirements to better ensure the sound management and appropriate use of charitable assets.

Leadership In Action Program Set for September

Downtown Chamber Bingo

Downtown Chamber Bingo is in full swing for Paulding County. The idea to create a Bingo game came about after brainstorming ways to get people to come out and explore what their communities had to offer regarding local businesses and organizations. By looking for the Bingo items the participants take time to explore the buildings, businesses, and environment around them. This will be the 3^rd year for Downtown Paulding to have a Chamber Bingo.

The positive feedback that the Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce received raised the question of whether to expand the Bingo activities to other communities. As this year’s Bingo kicked off there were multiple inquiries from community members in surrounding towns asking if the Chamber could create a Bingo for them. So, we did!

This year we are very excited to have Bingo for Antwerp, Oakwood, Paulding, and Payne. Each community has some unique items that will be fun to find. More details about how to play can be found here. Happy exploring!

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce Announces the Destination Business Workshop Series for Small Businesses

The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Destination Business Workshop series for small businesses in partnership with by the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP). The Destination Business Course teaches the proven 14-point business success strategy developed by business consultant Jon Schallert who created this methodology after three decades of coaching independent business owners to make their businesses irresistible to customers. Businesses that follow Schallert’s process can attract both local consumers and customers from far beyond the typical geographic market of a business. Representatives from GLCAP are certified facilitators of this course.

The Destination Creation Course consists of 8 downloadable webinars by Schallert, along with interviews with top business authors on topics vital to small businesses and a digital workbook.

This 3-part series of workshops will be held on June 6^th, June 20^th and July 11^th from 9 am to 11:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Paulding. Owners, Elecia and Brandon Wobler, have very positive things to say about the benefits of The Salt Cave, and they are proud to bring this experience to Paulding County.

Herb Monroe Community Park Beautification Program

The Herb Monroe Community Park is a beautiful addition to the downtown square in Paulding, OH. It is a family gathering place, somewhere to take your lunch break, a location for cookouts and fundraising activities, a parking space for food trucks and vendors, as well as being the go-to spot for a variety of other activities throughout the year. The Paulding Area Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the care and upkeep of the park, and we are looking for volunteers to help us with the task. Community members, churches, businesses, and organizations are all invited to sign up for a two-week time slot where they help keep the park beautiful for everyone that uses it. Tasks include picking up trash, pulling weeds, sweeping mulch off the pavement, and generally making sure the park looks welcoming. Paulding, OH: The Paulding Chamber of Commerce hosted the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for Speice’s Barbershop on Tuesday, January 3^rd. Many residents and community leaders gathered to welcome Trevor Speice to the community and to show their support for his vision and dream of combining the classic old time barbershop atmosphere with all the modern barbershop services. Local Chambers of Commerce Promote Shop Small

Paulding, OH: The Shop Local trend is catching on and sweeping across the globe. This is no exception in Paulding County. There is a sense of pride in the community when people choose to support their local businesses. Both Chambers have partnered with The Small Business Team at AmEx and have been named as 2022 Neighborhood Champions.

This partnership has allowed both Chambers to gain access to #ShopSmall marketing materials which they have distributed to local businesses participating in the Shop Local Events. Paulding Chamber will be hosting Shop the Village on Shop Small Saturday (November 26^th) where many of the businesses around the Village Square have opened their doors in invitation to other local vendors for the day. Antwerp Chamber’s Shop Small event spans the week leading up to Shop Small Saturday. These events are both a true example of local businesses supporting each other and encouraging the community to do the same. “If you have a favorite business, shop, or restaurant, please make that extra effort to visit them frequently. It’s important that we all support our local businesses so that they not only survive but thrive,” says Paulding Chamber Executive Director Erica Noggle.

The positive effects of shopping local reach far beyond what we can see. The money received by local businesses, for the most part, goes right back into the community. Local business owners tend to employ local residents, purchase locally produced products and inventory, and give back directly to the community.

Paulding High School Community Help Day

Paulding, OH: Some Paulding High School Seniors and staff, including Shawn Brewer, Adam Renollet, and Sam Hatcher, took to the Village Square on October 25^th to help make a difference in the community. The Paulding Chamber of Commerce reached out to the businesses on the Square to compile a list of tasks for the group. Multiple businesses had specific projects, but the overwhelming request was for the sidewalks to be cleaned. This group came prepared to work! They cleaned the sidewalks, scraped old paint off a business and then repainted, washed windows, pulled weeds, racked leaves, sweep up dirt and trash, cleaned a conference room and much more. The visual impact they made was nothing less than phenomenal. These individuals demonstrated a tremendous amount of pride in our local businesses and in the community. It was great to see and very appreciated.

Paulding Chamber Annual Banquet Award Recipients

Paulding, OH: The Paulding Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Banquet on Tuesday, October 25^th. This year’s theme was Denim and Diamonds, and guests were encouraged to come dressed to impress in their best pair of jeans, enjoy a delicious meal and take the opportunity to network.

The Chamber presented various awards to businesses, organizations, and members of the community. 10 Year Milestone Award recipients included Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library and RayleCom Communications. 15 Year Milestone Award recipients were Advanced Rehabilitation Technology, Edward Jones – Phil Recker, and Westwood Behavioral Health Center. The 20 Year Milestone Award Recipient was Small Business Technologies, The Award Shop received the 25 Year Milestone Award, and United Way of Paulding County received the 30 Year award.

Golden Shovel Awards were presented to Grounded Coffee & Crumbs for their building renovation and Mercer Landmark for their facilities expansion project.

Nominations were accepted for the Legacy Award, the Business Leader of the Year, and the Young Professional of the Year. These nominations were reviewed by Chamber of Commerce Executives located in Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Ontario. They selected Guy Dasher as the Legacy Award recipient, Mitch and Ashley Maibach as the Business Leaders of the Year, and Amanda Steel as the Young Professional of the Year.

This year’s Paulding Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet was sponsored by The State Bank, The Gardens at Paulding, The Union Bank Company, Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative, Den Herder Funeral Home, Baughman Tile Company, First Financial Bank, and Red Angel Pizza.
